Praying for those in Haiti

Man, I am so devastated about what has happened in Haiti. I do not personally know anyone who was in the Haiti during the time of the earthquake but I cannot seem to stop the tears from rolling. 500,000 is the estimated death toll says a source. Haiti, already an "underprivileged" country in comparison to the US, has to find a way t recover from this. It really makes me think, all you have worked for your entire life; cars, houses, and all material wealth. GONE. In an instant. I truly am keeping the people of Haiti and all affected by this quake in my prayers.

Post Secret

Okay, Post Secret may be one of the coolest "things" (for lack of a better word) I have ever encountered. his is how it works, you mail in a secret (anonymously) that you have never told anyone befor on a post card. Using your creativity Frank, the creator of Post Secret, complies a most magnificanet book. Don't think you're brave enough to share your secret? Take a look at one of the books maybe you'll find a few you can relate to, "So many of my secrets are in here without sending in one post card" says one reader from Mexico. The post cards evoke emotions from laughter to pain. Check 'em out!

Just a little thang thang

Unfortunately, I think all that inspiration has got me yearning for the future. I want high school to just be over! I want to change the world now!!! But I know I must be patient. One step at a time right? I hope I snap out if this funk soon, it is so "unbecoming" as my mother would say.

My Heros

Those amazing people to the left are this years nominee for CNN heroes. As I watched it I became so inspired. I was beginning to think that there was too few people left that actually cared with all their hearts about human beings. They helped prove me wrong. From providing homes to orphaned children to food to the homeless on the streets of Queens, this group is making a difference! I was a weep-fest watching their stories. It is absolutely invigorating to see there passions for humankind, that they are willing to give themselves completely to the cause of others. And imagine, these are only ten of the hundreds of nominees in the running for CNN Hero of the year! That is hundreds of amazing selfless people that GOD has put on this earth to serve his people. I'm awed! Hopefully one day Ill be among the caring, selfless and just FANTASIC group of people we call CNN heros.

The Awakening

Never before have I felt more inspired about my future than I do today. I feel so moved it maybe difficult to put into words! Earlier tonight I posted on my Twitter account (Mkarnley), "Right here, right now, I vow to dedicate my life to help those in need" and I mean it! To show you what I mean let delve a little into the past.

For the past couple week I had been in a funk, and I could not figure out what it was. I didn't want to do anything at all. I wasn't Mea anymore. Then today, as I was searching the background of Charity: Water I had an epiphany! Literally. I stared crying, not so much because of the suffering I saw, but the willingness of one man to help try to eradicate their pain.

His name, Scott Harrsion. He is the brains behind the amazing foundation called Charity: Water that build wells in countries with the need for clean water. His words spoke to me like no others have done before, "I would like nothing better than to be 80 years old and flying back and forth to serve people on need" I feel like I have connected with a man I have never met before on such a deep level. That couldn't have been said better.

I will make a difference in this world! I know God has it in store for me.

Charity: Water

On December 23, I'm turning 16. At first, this seemed surreal, even daunting. But then I found out that millions of people don't live to see their 5th birthday. And why? Because they didn't have access to clean, safe water. So I'm not scared of turning 16 anymore. In fact, I'm celebrating my birthday like never before. I'm asking for $16 from everyone I know - and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund freshwater wells in developing nations. Even better, every dollar is "proved" when the projects are complete, and photos and GPS coordinates are posted using Google Earth. My goal is to raise $5,000 by my birthday, December 23. Please consider helping me. Brian Barrett will be turing 17 on December 3rd, he is helping me by collecting 17 dollars from his friends to help make our goal of 5,000. You can donate by visiting my Charity: Water account www.mycharitywater.org/measbirthdayproject where you can find more information on how to get involved. Thanks for your help!

NASA's bombing the moon??!

So NASA has decided that the best way to find out if there is water on the moon is to crash it. Hmmm, thats so interesting. I am sure they have done adequate research on the density of the moon and what not, but what if the ENTIRE moon breaks?? Let's hope not! In other news, President Obama may have won a Nobel Peace Prize??? For his,"Extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”. Does the word efforts not bother you? Obama has continuously promised to help stop genocide in Sudan, but has yet to address it. Martin Luther King won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 AFTER his strong plight for equality in America, Mother Theresa in 1979 AFTER leading Missionaries of Charity, Theodore Roosevelt in 1906 AFTER the Russo-Japanese war, Woodrow Wilson in 1919 AFTER the founding of the League of Nations, Jane Addams AFTER the creation of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. President Obama should not be the exception. He should be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize AFTER success in "international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples". Maybe its in an effort to push him even more? I am not degrading Obama's efforts. They truly are extraordinary! But lets not jump the gun.
